Our approach

Own the work.
Stay with it.

Infrastructure is a continuing responsibility. Our operating principles cover the decisions before deployment and the work needed to keep an environment useful throughout its life.

01

Ask the questions that change the design.

What runs here? Who relies on it? What happens if it stops? These answers shape the architecture, the capacity plan and the level of support the environment needs.

Write down the workload, its constraints and what a successful deployment must do.

02

Make responsibility easy to find.

A deployment may involve several teams. The next decision still needs an owner. Define who delivers each part, who accepts the handover and who takes the lead when an issue crosses boundaries.

Agree the scope, responsible team and escalation route before work starts.

03

Look beyond the purchase price.

Equipment has to be powered, connected, maintained and eventually replaced. Capacity and support needs change along the way. Consider those costs when deciding what to build and how to run it.

Assess deployment, utilisation, maintenance, recovery and replacement together.

04

Give difficult decisions to experienced people.

A repeatable process helps with routine work. An unusual failure or an unsuitable architecture needs judgment. Give engineers a clear way to raise concerns and bring in the right specialist.

Keep a clear path from day-to-day support to specialist engineering.

05

Make the commitment clear.

A customer should know what is covered, who provides it and how it will be assessed. Tie service commitments to the actual environment, operating business and agreement.

Document the scope, service responsibilities and agreed measures.
